Elise Matthysen ended last in her second semi-final. She had a difficult time keeping up with the pace of her opponents and made a tired impression. Yet Matthysen isn’t to blame. She has had a wonderful journey in Beijing and can be delighted of what she has achieved. Elise was the best of all participating Belgian swimmers. We must now look into the future, regarding the Games of London in 2012, because it is already predicted that Elise, along with her fellow swimmer Yoris Grandjean, is going to fight and come back for revenge even stronger and fitter, let’s not forget this talented swimmer is still barely 16.

These are some quotes from Elise just after her semi-final:
“I’ve tried to come along, but the legs were no longer up for it. Even during the warming-up even it didn’t went that good, but that is never really no indication. Sometimes I swim in the game than just good.”
“In the next major championship, I will see what I’ve learned here. I’ve enjoyed of this experience so much, especially because I was in the semi-finals and had nothing to lose.”

“In the time that I’m still here, I certainly want to watch the rest of the swimming competitions, and tomorrow, I would also want to go and see Gaelle (Mys, the gymnast) perform”.
