Our biggest Swimtalent stunts yet again during her third act at the Olympic Games. She takes an unexpected turn to the semi-finals, this time in the 200 meter breaststroke. The 16-year old swam a 15th time with a new Belgian record in the heats. She destroyed the very last record (from 1995) that stood behind the name of perhaps our most famous female swimmer of all time, Brigitte Becue. Matthysen now holds every single record that once belonged to Becue. The Belgian swimmer reacts very surprised at her accomplishment and let us know her Olympic debut has already succeeded.
Tomorrow morning she dives into the olympic pool to swim the semi-final, I wonder whether she can improve on her thirteenth place of before.
